Dave Mercer is running for the office of state representative in the 7th Middlesex district. He has had close ties with this area for most of his life. Dave was born in Framingham. Then his family moved to Bellingham, where he attended public schools, graduating from Bellingham High School. Following graduation, he attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst for four years, graduating with a B.S. degree in Forestry. At UMass, he met his future wife.

Dave returned to Bellingham for a year, until he and his wife were married and located in Framingham. During that year, Dave served on the Town of Bellingham Conservation Commission.

In October 2010, it will mark 34 consecutive years living in the Town of Framingham. During that time Dave and his wife raised a son and a daughter. Both children attended and graduated from Framingham Public Schools. At this time, they are also both college graduates.

Dave has been employed in the lawn and tree care, and landscaping profession for many years. He is a Massachusetts Certified Landscape Professional, and a Massachusetts Certified Arborist. He also has completed a two year program at Framingham State College for Massachusetts Teacher Certification, earning certification in Earth Science.

Dave enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking and paddling in the canoe on local rivers. He also has been active in church activities such as music, children’s ministry, and others.
